Friday Night Alternatives to Racism

When I was in college, Friday nights were the most exciting time of the week. We had so many options for fun, none the which included tiki torches, racism, violence and hate.

But in case some people have forgotten Friday night alternatives to racism, here's a comprehensive list:

  • Play Mario Kart
  • Make a Wizard's Staff
  • Go camping
  • Talk to girls
  • Talk to guys
  • Go on a bike ride
  • Eat Mexican food
  • Go to the bouldering gym
  • Drive home to see your parents
  • Cook a big family style dinner
  • Go to the dollar theatre
  • Finally do some laundry while you eat leftover pizza
  • Catch up on lost sleep
  • Launch fireworks
  • Find a pool and go swimming
  • Watch YouTube videos
  • Go to the gym
  • Go on a date
  • Eat burritos and street tacos at 2am
  • Start on a road trip
  • Climb a roof
  • Play Super Smash Bros.
  • Call an Uber

The events in Charlottesville will not be tolerated. We must call evil by its name and remind the misguided few that the land of the free and home of the brave has zero patience for calculated racism, bigotry and the perpetuation of fear. That "on many sides" dismissal is garbage. I urge anyone reading this to kindly speak truth to power, add love to every equation you encounter, and dedicate yourself to the unification of your communities and circles. Anyone can burn a bridge. My favorite people build them.

This is 2017, people. Wake up.
